I also tried messing around with the compatibility tab under properties such as running this as program as an administrator, running it in Windows XP (even Windows 98), disabling visual themes, etc and none of those work. I uninstalled the update that I found I had, but all it succeed in doing is getting past the loading screen before it crashes.
For computers using built-in graphics chipsets under Windows, the game requires at least: Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA 3-Series or above 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent 0.5 GB additional RAM FOR MAC OS X ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel. So far after doing some searching, I found that a windows update called KB3086255 was giving other people problems. The Sims Series have certain requirements in which players need to fulfill in order to play them. I am aware that a recent update to Windows 7 has stopped. I have tried compatibility mode, running as administrator, different resolutions etc but it still doesnt work. It's like my laptop doesnt want have anything to do with this game whatsoever. Ive been playing the Sims 1 on my Windows 7 PC for more than a year, but I tried to play it today and it doesnt run and comes up with a 'The Sims has stopped working' message. Im baffled because Ive managed to get games that are just as old The Sims to work fine. I sometimes get this error message:ÄirectX 7, or Service Pack 3 for NT4, is required.
It goes past the loading screen, freezes on a black screen for a few seconds, then crashes back to the desktop. Unfortunately I cant get it up and running. So ive been going through a nostalgic wave lately and wanted to play the Original Sims on my Windows 7 Laptop after not having touched it in so many years.
